  • Overview

    The primary purpose of this position is to increase sales and profitability for the business unit in the region. The Regional Manager is responsible for developing and implementing local strategies in support of the goals and general strategies of the Strategic Business Unit (SBU).

    The Regional Manager is responsible for all sales team members in the region assigned, concerning hiring, managing, training, directing, developing, monitoring, motivating and dismissal.

    Responsibilities

    The main responsibilities will encompass, but will not be limited to:

     

    • Develop and implement a regional business plan that anticipates and identifies challenges in the market in order to meet established goals and strategies for the SBU.
    • Actively monitor market share in the assigned region.
    • Provide direction, support, training and guidance to all sales team members within the assigned region to help achieve individual and organizational goals. This includes but is not limited to the following:
    • Responsible for Recruitment of SBU employees who report directly or indirectly to the Regional Manager. All recruitment to be done with involvement of Human Resource Department.
    • Responsible for performance and disciplinary issues, up to and including dismissal (Liaise with HR to ensure that correct legal procedures are adhered to).
    • Work closely with HR department in order to ensure that company policies/procedures are adhered to, in order to provide a positive working environment for all COOK employees.
    • Set sales targets for the Sales Representatives on an individual basis.
    • Agree sales targets with Distributors as appropriate and monitor ongoing performance of the Distributor against sales target.
    • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
    • Salary adjustments of the Sales Representatives in the assigned region, adhering to the guidelines set by SBU Management.
    • Maintain frequent and consistent field coaching schedules with assigned sales team members to assist sales representatives to continually improve performance.
      • Liaise with senior SBU management on price setting.  
      • Responsible for managing the SBU budget in the region.
      • Accountable for the contribution of the SBU in the region.
      • Select, organize and participate in local and international exhibitions and meetings.
      • Maintain active relationships with key accounts and key regional physicians.
      • Ensure that sales team members are adequately trained in product and procedures.
      • Ensure that sales team members are adequately trained in sales skills.
      • Ensure that complaints are monitored and actively addressed in a consistent and timely manner and in accordance with company procedures.
      • Seek and evaluate new product ideas, providing adequate information and facilitating ongoing communication.
      • Provide feed-back to the SBU Team regarding business plan achievement, customer situations and sales activities.
      • Review and Approve Expense Reports in accordance with company procedures.
      • Employ a participative management style (lead by example) and be solution oriented, technically astute and receptive.
      • Comply with travel and subsistence rules and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
      • Understand and follow company quality policies and procedures with respect to Complaint Handling, Product Returns, Samples, Consignment Stock and any other areas as appropriate.
      • Ensure that the COOK® image is presented in a consistent and professional manner.
      • Ensure that COOK’s Code of Conduct is complied with in all business matters carried out on COOK’s behalf.

     

    Qualifications

    • Language Skills - Excellent written and verbal command of English and other relevant languages.
    • Previous, profit centre management experience in the medical device industry preferred.
    • Previous experience managing and leading field based sales teams across Europe preferred.
    • Formal business qualification preferred and/or a proven sales track record.
    • High self-motivation and initiative
    • Decision making efficiency with an ability to focus on and progress key business goals
    • Leadership potential and an ability to motivate, engender loyalty and commitment in subordinates
    • Willingness to take appropriate risks for the execution of business strategy.
    • Proven problem-solving skills.
