Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The Ethics & Compliance function includes Regional Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy, Governance, Contracts & Audits (GCA), Anti-corruption Anti-bribery (ABAC), Trade Compliance and Social Impact & Sustainability (SI&S) with close alignment to the Legal function.

 

As an Ethics & Compliance graduate, you will gain hands-on experience and knowledge as well as having responsibilities in some or all of the following areas: -

 

Regional Ethics & Compliance:

  • Assist in the research, development, implementation, training, auditing and monitoring of compliance programs, including the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
  • Support E&C programs such as Charitable Donations & Grants program, Transparency Reporting and Ethics, SI&S projects & E&C Compliance week.
  • Participate in risk assessments and help create action plans to address identified risks.
  • Monitor & research updates and changes to External applicable standards, including regulations & enforcement trends (e.g. MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice, applicable EU Directives etc.).
  • Contribute to the drafting and review of Cook Written Standards, including policy, guidance documents.
  • Support EMEA Trade Compliance projects

Data Privacy:

  • Assist in monitoring trends in EMEA data protection laws and best practice (e.g. GDPR, national laws, regulatory guidance/opinions).
  • Support the development and delivery of data privacy training and awareness campaigns.
  • Support the review and maintenance of existing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with privacy laws and best practice.
  • Participate in Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and supporting processes.
  • Assist the Records Management program as necessary.

Governance, Contracts and Audits: 

  • Support the review and drafting of EMEA Healthcare Professional and Healthcare Organisation agreements.
  • Support the review and drafting of EMEA Distributor Agreements in accordance with ABAC and internal governance requirements.
  • Assist in the review and development of policies, procedures and guidance documents to support Business Integrity Plans (BIPs) and broader GCA policy objectives.
  • Support the review of periodic (e.g., monthly/quarterly) compliance reports and dashboards, and assist in identifying and tracking action items to address compliance risks or issues.
  • Provide support to internal investigations, including document collection, organisation and coordination, under appropriate supervision.
  • Support GCA-led projects and continuous improvement initiatives as they arise.

General: 

  • Support projects for continuous improvement within the E&C and Legal functions.
  • Ensure that Cooks Code of Conduct is considered in all business matters carried out on Cook’s behalf.

Qualifications

  • Third Level qualification in Law, Accounting, Business or related discipline.    
  • Previous experience in the medical device industry is desirable but not essential e.g., Co-Op placement, intern placement etc.
  • Ambitious, passionate and dynamic individual with a high level of integrity, drive and commitment.
  • A genuine interest in the Ethics & Compliance & Legal aspects of the medical device industry.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Highly motivated individual, self-starter with a passion for excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Basic awareness of regulations such as CSRD, GDPR, FCPA or UK Bribery Act
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Good computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft® Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • High self-motivation.
  • Team Player with ability to develop strong working relationships.
